Description
The youngest sons of Guru Gobind Singh – Sahibzada Zoravar Singh, aged 9, and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, aged 6, were martyred by the Mughals under Aurangzeb who felt threatened by the rise of Sikhism. The Nawab of Sirhind, Wazir Khan, tried his level best to convert the kids to Islam, using all kinds of tactics but the little ones stood their ground like the courageous giants they really were. They were bricked alive – a scene that sends shivers down the spine.
This artwork is an ode to the Sahibzadas’ faith and courage to stand by their ideals, as well as fearlessness in the face of imminent death at an age marked by milk teeth and naughty playfulness.
